Tom Holland Suffers Head Injury During Spider-Man: Brand New Day Stunt, Pausing Filming

Tom Holland was rushed to hospital in an ambulance after suffering a head injury while shooting a Spider-Man: Brand New Day stunt.
Ambulance services were called to Leavesden Studios in Watford, England, after Holland sustained the injury.
UK newspaper The Sun confirmed with the East of England Ambulance Service that they were called at 10.30am on Friday to “attend to a patient who had sustained an injury.” An ambulance was “sent to the scene, and the patient was transported to hospital for further care.”
The Sun said Holland was treated for concussion after he “cracked his head in a fall.” The 29-year-old Marvel star later appeared at a charity dinner in Mayfair with his father, Dominic, and co-star and fiancée Zendaya, posing for pictures. But, according to The Sun, Holland “left early after feeling ill.”
There are conflicting reports on how the injury will affect the production of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The Sun quoted Holland’s dad as saying he would be away from filming “for a while.” However, Variety described the concussion as “mild,” and said Holland will take a break from filming as a precaution and return to set in a few days.
Variety said Sony will meet Marvel Studios today, September 22, to work out a plan. Spider-Man: Brand New Day currently has a release date of July 31, 2026.
Filming began in August in Glasgow, Scotland, alongside a suit reveal. Various set leaks have emerged since, including photos showing Jacob Batalon, who will return for the movie after playing sidekick Ned Leeds in Tom Holland's first Marvel trilogy, and Zendaya, who of course plays MJ in the Spider-Man movies. Set videos have also teased a return to practical web-swinging after relying on CGI for past MCU movies.
Holland recently took a break from filming Spider-Man for an interview with IGN in which he discussed a new LEGO short film he starred in.
Holland’s head injury comes after former Superman star Henry Cavill suffered a leg injury while training for the Highlander reboot, delaying production.
